2008 Thirlmere Steam Festival

March 2nd 2008 - Thousands crowed the Thirlmere town centre on Sunday to mark the annual steam festival which is the town's key community event each year and the biggest display of steam locomotives within New South Wales attracting enthusiasts well outside the local region with one group traveling as far away as Darwin.

Steam trains ran on the local loop line to both Picton and Buxton throughout the day and a return service was run to Sydney Central station.

A lunchtime street parade attracted a series of local community groups from emergency services, vintage car groups, local schools and even Where's Wally. Local market stalls and range of attractions entertained visitors throughout the day.

2MCR for the first time has broadcast live from the festival and has complied a selection of highlights from its outside broadcast and video from the Award ceremony. We will be adding more photos and information from the day shortly, so please check this site regularly.
